This beautiful, lavishly illustrated volume, traces the history of the film poster in Spare, a history that parallels the wonderful illustration work that came out of Hollywood and many other film centers around the globe during the first half of this century. The movies that these posters herald are also from around the globe, including many U.S. films. Most of the posters are full-page reproductions that include notes about the date, the artist and, if not a Spanish film, the movie's foreign title. The introductory text is in Spanish, but a 12-page insert of English text that introduces the subject and discusses the various periods and styles is included.
